CDBG-CV for Emergency Housing Assistance

The Town of Carrboro was awarded, from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, $900,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grant – Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds, which the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocated to the State.

These funds will be used for the Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) program administered by Orange County, which provides emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, and other housing-related costs to Town residents with low incomes and urgent need for housing assistance. According to grant guidelines, at least 90 percent of funds will be used as direct financial assistance to beneficiaries and no more than 10 percent will be used for administration of the program. Receiving these funds will provide significant benefit to low-income households in the Town of Carrboro by promoting housing stability and economic relief.

A draft of the Town of Carrboro's CDBG-CV application is available for review.
